Welcome to Our Community: Built for Single Moms, By Single Moms

If you found this site at 11 p.m. while googling something specific — a budget question, a custody question, a “is this normal” question — you’re exactly who this was built for.

The Common Table started from a simple observation: single moms are handling an enormous amount, often without a built-in support system, and most advice out there assumes a second parent is somewhere in the picture. This isn’t that. Every guide, checklist, and story here is written specifically for a one-income, one-adult household navigating money, rights, emotional load, daily logistics, and community — without pretending any of it is easy.

What You’ll Find Here

We organize everything into five areas, because “single motherhood” isn’t one problem — it’s five overlapping ones:

  • Money — budgeting, benefits, income growth, and financial planning for one income
  • Law & Rights — custody, child support, workplace rights, and legal basics in plain English
  • Heart — the emotional weight nobody prepares you for, and how to carry it without burning out
  • Household — the daily logistics of running a home solo, from bedtime to chores to big conversations with your kids
  • Community — the people, groups, and resources that make “alone” feel a lot less true

What This Community Is Not

This isn’t a place for judgment, comparison, or one-size-fits-all advice. Every mom’s situation — custody arrangement, income, support system, co-parenting reality — looks different, and the goal here is practical help and honest company, not a single “right way” to do this.

It’s also not a substitute for professional help when you need it. If something here points you toward a lawyer, therapist, or caseworker, that’s intentional — some situations need more than an article, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case.

How to Get the Most Out of Being Here

  • Create a free account to save guides, track checklists, and join discussions
  • Start with whichever pillar matches what’s loudest in your life right now — there’s no required order
  • Share your story if you’re comfortable. Reading another mom’s specific experience is often more useful than general advice, and yours might be exactly what someone else needs tonight
  • Come back as things change. What you need in month one looks different than month twelve, and the content here is built to grow with you

You’re Not Starting From Zero

Whatever brought you here tonight — a budget that doesn’t work, a custody question, a hard day, or just looking for people who get it — you’re not behind, and you’re not alone in this. Create your free account, and let’s get into it together.
